Press release 18/12/09
Bill Cash said today:
“It has come to light that East Staffordshire Borough Council have voted over the Blythe Park power station plans, even though the proposed site is clearly within the boundaries of Staffordshire Moorlands District Council. The Government itself has acknowledged that the decision over the proposals falls to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, but overall responsibility lies with the Secretary of State, so I am not certain as to the reasons why a local council in a different area would vote for this.”
“I have therefore written to the Chief Executive of East Staffordshire Borough Council to question why this has been done and to further investigate the reasons why they felt it was in their remit to vote in favour of this highly objectionable proposal.”
